Hey All,
I'm new to the forum...just bought my first dodge, 06 Ram 1500 w/ Hemi...absolutely amazing truck! I am extremeley happy with it so far. My only complaint, and this may be me just being picky, is that when idling in "Park" I notice that every few cylces of the engine there's a little shutter. I don't think it's anything serious, but it's definitely noticeable, just kind of curious if there are any other owners out there that have noticed this. For all I know it may be completely normal for this truck, maybe it will go away once it's fully broken in, just over 120 miles on it right now, so I was just looking for some input before I ask the dealership about it.
Thanks

I had a shudder/vibration at idle on mine. There is a TSB for it, ask your dealer about it. All they do is put a rubber dampener on your exhaust system between your manifolds and cat converter. It fixed mine. I am not sure of the TSB number but your dealer should be knowledgeable of it.

Look at the TSB's, NHTSA and http://www.autotalkusa.com/recalls1.asp?make=Dodge.
Shuddering and stalling have been a problem since the redesign in 02 Just do a search at dogpile.com and plenty will come up.
I want to note again though, that Dodge is the best built truck out there as far as Im concerned. What bothers me is that it seems like Dodge isnt doing anything to fix this issue.
Its not gas or weather or any other "force of nature" or "act of god". It is a design problem. I am not a mechanic so I dont know where the flaw is .. However ALL three of my Rams, 03 QC 4.7l, 05 QC 5.7l, and 06 5.7l Mega (only 2k on this one) have / are doing this.

For the life of me I can't see the concern for how a engine runs IN PARK! The late model cars are built to meet emissions, meaning they run very lean especially at idle. This leads to random lean misfires which are felt as "rough idle". If the engine runs fine in gear and there are no other concerns such as noise/rattles then there is no problem to be addressed. It can be fixed if someone wanted to richen up the idle mixture but that is not going to happen in todays enviroment. You want a rough idling engine, go back and check the 5.2/5.9's from 97 to 2001, they idled bad enough to shake the hood in gear! and no fix, just the nature of those big v8's.
