Default Locked out with engine running

My new 06 2500 locked me out with engine running while I was scrapping ice off the windows. This is not supposed to happen. Has it happened to anyone else?
Later, I deliberatley tried to lock myself out (with spare key in hand) and was unsuccesfull. Any ideas?

Hasnt happened to me on my truck, but i did get a Dodge Stratus that locked me out. It was a loaner from the dealership when my 03 was in for a sevice. If i hadnt have hit the trunk latch pop before i got out (on accident) then i would have been screwed, i had to crawl in the trunk, push the back seat down and climb into the car. I cant tell you anything about this except, if ur really worried about it then get remote start on ur truck and keep a spare key and rmote in ur house or something so that you can shut the engine off and get back in the Rig. If you have a toolbox on ur truck with a lock on it then lock another key and remote in there and keep the key to that in ur back pocket.

I saw somewhere on here that they now make a key hider that fits into your hitch. I don't have a link handy, but maybe someone here does...

My dealer just made me a free spare key to stash under my new truck. It wont be able to start the motor because it doesnt have the chip in it but it will get me into the truck. Last hunting season I locked my key in my last Ram truck and I had a spare key hidden under the truck. I wanted to make sure this new truck I could at least get inside.

Hasn't happened to me with my truck yet, but I'm sure it will one day! I know with some vehicles with separate remote and key that if you start the vehicle and take the remote with you after locking the doors, sometimes the remote will not unlock the doors! It's happened to me a couple of times mostly with factory installed systems. Now I always carry a spare key with me!

this has happened to me. I can't remember how I did it exactly but I do remember that it was my fault. I now have a hide a key under the truck and I carry a spare key in my toiletries bag because that thing always goes on trips with me. Just an idea.
