Default 04 quad cab with major rattles in dash

Have a 2004 quad cab 1500 HEMI, I Hate it!!!!! You can't enjoy driving it with the rattles that are going on in the cab. All 4 doors (panels) are rattling, but the one that I can't figure out and is the most annoying, is the one that sounds like morse code coming from somewhere in the middle of the dash behind the CD Player.

Anyway, is there anyone else that has had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

I have the same problem. It seems to be more pronounced when first starting out on cold (<30F) mornings. After the truck warms up, the rattle tends to disappear. When the temperatures are >40F, I don't have the problem nearly as bad.

I have suspected something in the heater core, possibly a loose bi-level door swing arm. I have taken to the dealer a few times. They hook up the OBDII scanner and report no DTCs, no TSBs, and they recalibrate the bi-level doors. Same problem. Another annoying symptom is that I can't fully turn off the heat. I need to run the A/C even when it's in the 60s. In the summer it gets even worse.

Any chance your kids might have dropped some change down the defroster tubes? It happened to me several years back, I could not figure it out either. Bonus was that I made 34 cents in the discovery.

I used to have real loud Rattles coming from my dash and it was more from the lower side ends and sometimes it sounded like it was righ behind the radio. Well after tons and tons of times I took it to the dealer and I was about the have the truck lemoned they told me they found what it was and they removed from each side 2 foam piece that are placed between the engine bay and the side door panels and the truck did drive very good after that but then a small amount of noise started up again and I took the truck to a small tire shop and asked them to lift it for me. I ended up noticing that the plastic (wheel wells) were a lil loose so i tighten up the screws all the way and I have never had any more noises. and a buddy of mine had the same problem and we did the same thing and most of the noise was gone except the noise in the middle dash which we noticed some foam from under the hood at the base near the windshild was loose and we removed some and the noise went away. So try to look all over yor truck for loose things it might just be your problem. I honestly would have never thought the noise would be somethign so stupid, since the noise was sooo loud and it sounded liek it was somethign inside the dashboard. Good luck

The only rattles I have in my 04 is that the front passenger's lock (the thing that moves up and down to show if it is locked or not, can't think of the name) will rattle over rough roads and drives me crazy. If I press unlock it pops up and the rattling goes away. If the passenger puts thier finger on it while in the down position it goes away. Go figure. I also can hear the dash pop a little when I go over a sudden bad patch of asphalt. Like when they are resurfacing the road and it drops/rises all of a sudden since they haven't finished it.

As for your doors, I suggest taking them off and using whatever noise killer you want. Dynamat is good. Noisekiller Blue is a spray on that works well. Then put the door panel back on and problems solved, at least with the doors.
