The 03, 04, and 05's are identical in performance - but I think Rob was referring to the difference between the 2006's, and the previous Hemis.

I'm just curious if the new grille and headlights make up for the loss in power

Could it be a MDS thing? My 06 2500 that doesnt have the MDS, lights em up. I know they didnt make the 2006 slower, its smoother and more refined pedal feel. It isnt as tow tapping touchy as the 05. This will be a advantage off roading for me because I usually have hunting boots on and very little pedal feel. It should be easier to feather on the throttle in the slippery stuff

This is just from my personal experience, racing friends who have 03's and 04's... I even raced one guy with aftermarket exhaust and intake and stuff, and I was able to beat him, and my truck was stock at that time... I realize some of it could do with reaction time... However, even if the other truck driver reacted slower, we're talking milliseconds, with your foot all the way to the floor, it's up to the truck to perform... And I was pulling on him... So...

I still don't get it. I can't comment on an 03, because I am not sure of the differences between that and an 04 or 05. But technically, there is no difference between and 04 and 05. Same programming, same gears, same shift points, etc. I could see it happening if, say you have a 3.92 rear end, and the other guy had a 3.55. Or, if they didn't know how to drive.

As for the difference between a 2006, I can only comment on what I've read on here. Personally, I haven't been in an 06 to comment on the power. But, from what you said, and the other people on this post, it does sound like a power issue with the new ones. Maybe the torque management system is the culprit. I don't know.

My '06 just doesnt have much mid-range power and thats my only complaint. I've got 10-11,000 miles (driving back and fourth from work to college classes :P )

The "power loss" is pervieved. Its the same power but the reaction of the pedal to the engine is different and you will have a harder time breaking the tires free. The computer is programed different and that will be fixed with a superchips mod when they become available. I have gotten used to the power of my 05 and am now turning to mods to get me that giggle when I gun it.

Kevo, I read that too, but they'd have to keep your vehicle for about a week and I think they give you a rental for free. I wouldn't want to give my brand new vehicle to anyone, knowing they'd probably beat the heck out of the motor to test the chip.
