FLOWMASTER SERIES 40
Can anyone advise? I want a deep, throaty sound from my exhaust. Should i go with the Flow Master ? Is it the muffler, or the exhaust pipes which gives the truck that unique deep, throaty sound? Also, can you advise on installation? like can you do it yourself, or does it need to be welded?
I think Flowmaster sounds better than Aero Turbine, but that just my opinion. The 40 Series is pretty loud - if that is what you are looking for. What makes the truck loud is #1 its a Hemi, #2 the type of muffler, and #3 the pipe size will also affect the sound. Originally, I had 3" pipe on a 40 Series which was really loud, but got raspy over 4000 rpms (I didn't like it). I changed to dual 2 1/4" (which gave more low end power) and made the exhaust deep throughout the RPM range.
The 40 series has a lot of droning inside the cab is the only thing i don't like .

Droning is part of the game when you go loud. If someone wants it quiet - leave it stock or go with Magnaflow. But I personally like it loud, so I went with Flowmaster. Glasspacks would probably be a little bit louder - so thats another option.
Flowmaster American thunder Muscle truck kit, It comes with side exit pipes and a flowmaster 40 series. I put one on last week and it looks and sounds great. You can find them online for as low as 350 or so.

If you want duals get flowmaster super 40 3" in and dual 2.5" out (then tips of your choice). If not the get super 40 single 3" in and 3" out. I love this muffler, but yes it is loud and there is a drone in the cab, if you are fine with that then for sure get flowmaster super 40. As for the sound it comes from the muffler, pipes have some-what to do with sound, they influence a little.
