Default Foglights

I have read about checking to see if my 2005 Ram 1500 4x4 is prewired for foglights. I looked under the truck and saw a wire attached to the drivers side of the frame. I took pictures of what I saw. Is this the harness for the foglights? Thanks for any help. Also, if you have any suggestions for foglights, post them please.

Sorry about the blurry second photo. I also twisted the connection around to get the second photo. Let me know if you need more info before you can give an opinion. Thanks again.

i would imagine so, do you have a switch for fog lights?, i would hook a voltmeter/mulitmeter up to those terminals on that plug and if you have a fog light switch toggle it and see if your readings change

.
I'm wanting to also add fogs to my new '06. I checked with the parts counter, and they listed two different fog lamp packages... one w/ the truck prewired, and one without.

So, here's what I did to determine which I needed. I went out onto their lot, and found a truck w/ fogs. I crawled underneath the front, and found/followed the wiring from the fogs. I then looked up under mine for the same. Mine's not wired.

From the looks of things, the headlamp switch is swapped out for one that you push for the fogs to operate. Should come in the package.

Hope this helps.

Yes, those are the plugs for your mopar foglights, also there is no switch in the cab already, in the kit that comes with the foglights it has a unit that replaces the piece thats under your far right a/c vent on the driver side. You simply pop that out and unplug it from the wire then unscrew the 3 screws that are holding it and screw in the new piece that has the foglight addition on it (you just pull out the **** that turns on you lights to turn on the fogs) the install was very easy, it was actually the first and only install i have really done on my truck so far. I just installed mine about a week or so ago so the install is still pretty fresh in my mind, i belive there is a "how to" on the install of the foglights, if not you can PM me and ill get back to you asap!

Yes, you are a switch and lamps away from having fog lamps.

At DodgeParts.com i bought the fog light kit, fog light wiring harness and fog light switch. The fog light kit comes with a harness, but its one that assumes you don't have them prewired. Also the fog light kit comes with a swtich, but you need to drill a hole. The seperate fog light switch replaces the stock switch on the dash so its the same setup you have now, except you pull the **** you turn outwards and the fogs come on. The seperate fog light harness connects to the plug you've depicted hanging down and you just run it to the other side, plug in the lights and you're good to go. It's all expensive, but I thought it was worth it.

I guess if you're pretty handy at wiring stuff you could spend less and just buy the fog light kit itself.

My 04 1500 has the same connection however, I could not find the same on the passenger side. Is there an additional harness or is it supplied with the lights?

Thanks!

Buy the additional harness on Dodgeparts.com. It has 3 connectors...1 goes to the plug hanging down, one goes to the light on the drivers side and then the other snakes over to the passenger side.

Or at least thats how it worked when I bought it for my 2500.
