I have the DCC response in PDF format. If you want it, email me at vidalch_1@yahoo.com

Subject: Chrysler Stalling Investigation
Date: Thu, 6 Apr 2006 10:03:48 -0400
From: <clash@dot.gov>

As you may know, NHTSA has been investigating
incidents of engine stall in some model year 2004-05 DaimlerChrysler vehicles.

If you received this mail you have filed a vehicle
owner complaint (VOQ) with NHTSA. I would like to thank you for your
complaint and take this opportunity to send you a copy of the
DaimlerChrysler response to the NHTSA information request.
Unfortunately many of the warranty and incident reports provided
to NHTSA by DaimlerChrysler did not contain enough detailed
information to determine what caused the vehicle to stall. For
this reason I am requesting any new information you have related to
your vehicles engine stall i.e. copies of warranty or service
documents describing specific repair(s) made by your dealer. Any
documents you have can be sent directly to me by FAX, Mail or
E-mail using the address below.

Thank you in advance,

I find it interesting that I have only received 2 requests for DCC's response to this issue, but note very many complaints here and on other boards ... ... very odd ....

I no longer have the issue. My truck has stalled a total of 3 times, all between when I bought it new and 4k miles. Since (6k miles) has not stalled once.

I've got an 05 and it hasn't stalled on me at all, but idles real rough on a cold start sometimes, almost feels as if it's going to stall, but doesn't get all the way there. It has however decided on a couple occasions not to start! Usuaully when shutting off, run in the store and right back out.... turn the key and it just cranks. One of two things happen next, either I give a little on the gas pedal and it seems to fire, or I just twist and if it doesn't fire, I stop right away and twist the key again. Has fired on the second try all but one time (yesterday). Made a run to the liquor store, came right back out and turned the key and it just cranked. So I tapped the gas pedal, and nothing. Stopped, cranked again nothing. 3 or 4 times I tried and it was just dead. I stopped for a couple minutes wondering what I was going to do in a broke down truck with a bottle of Jose. Finally she started up and drove perfectly.

I'm clueless as to what's goin on.

It could be a problem with your transponder key. If it was faulty, it would do what you described.

I have a 2006 with 24,000km on it, and it have never stalled once. There have been 1 or 2 times when my hand slipped off the key while cranking, but that doesn't count as a stall or refusal to start. :P
