Throttle body spacer
Most of the theory behind the workings of a spacer have to do with the fact that they increase the plenum volume of the intake manifold and this helps keep the engine from having to pull on the throttle body or air induction system so hard. The larger plenum to draw air from increases velocity in the intake manifold and results in power gains from the low end, but mostly in the mid range. They are also said to improve fuel economy.
There is debate on which type works best, the type that claim to increase turbulence in the manifold by twisting the air or the type that claims better oveall performance by having it's vanes to straighten the airflow. I'm not knowledgebale enough to say which is best, but they do work and you would probably notice some gain by installing one. At least most of them are a cheap enough mod and usually fairly easy to install.

a fellow DF member has in there sig the truth about tb spacers and hurting fuel econ. and power. i think its burning rom or something liiek that he has v-10 if i remember
I paid $150CAD for an air-raid throttle body spacer. I noticed slightly better throttle response once I installed it... Even if the gains were only 1-2%, it was worth the $150CAD because it looks cool, and it changed the sound of the intake.
