On all our previous cars, we were told to do our first oil change @ 500 miles. I looked in our owners manual and it doesn't state anything except for the 3 mos or 3,000 miles.

Does anyone have any opinions or when did you do your first oil change?

Did the first oil change at 3000 and switched to Mobil 1 full synthetic. Feels like a different truck.

 

I usually change the oil in my new vehicles at around 500 miles. If nothing it is piece of mind.

As far as recommendations go, you can choose to change it now or wait until 3K miles. I'd personally choose to change it at 500 miles. I like knowing that I've done the best I can to keep my engine healthy.

 

Do you have to flush before switching to synthetic or do you just use it in a regular change?

The manual talks about the multidisplacement system not working right with the wrong oil, any comments?

My truck shutters from time to time when on cruise control, and I wonder if it is the MD system doing something.

I doubt the MDS is causing the cruise to shudder. The only time mine shudders is when I have OD off and it locks into gear with me part on the gas, you can feel it lock down. I don't know if I'd even call it a shudder, but I can feel it.

As far as the MDS not working, just use 5w20 and you'll be fine. If you want to switch to synthetic, no flush needed. Just drain, change oil filter, and fill with 7qts of whichever you choose.

 

Our local Chrysler dealer just switched over to Castrol Syntech for all it's cars and trucks $29.95 does the job with filter.
