my friend bought an 06 chevy qc (he says it has a 327 but i know its not because its only a 4.8 liter engine i believe and the dodge 4.7s are depending on the conversion chart you use anything from a 289 to a 291) but he took me for a ride and tried to burn out and couldnt do it because of the traction control the new chevys have. he couldnt even peel out and squeal his tires even in wet grass. and when he gets goin about 100 hes only at 4000 rpms and his trucks gauge goes up to 6 and when he revs it up in neutral or park itll go all the way to 6 but he cant get it past 4000 when hes driving and like i said when he hits 100 it doesnt shut off but it prevents the truck from going any faster than that. i guess its like a new type of governer that instead of shutting down at 100 just prevents you from getting above 100.

does anyone know why he cant get over 100 like i stated. was i right about the new governing system or is it something else and also is the new traction control system the reason that he cant spin his tires AT ALL?

The 2500HD with the 8.1 is going to way a lot more than a 1/2 ton QC. That should figure into the race as well. Are you going to run the guy, or are we just going to debate about it on here?

I say, run it and shut it dude. If you get burned, you get burned. [sm=gears.gif] Just do it to see, I know that the Hemi QC is quicker to 60 than the 2006 V6 Stang but it will over take it past 70. I found this out when i squared off against a classmate on the 21st. So i beat him from stoplight to stoplight but in the long run he pulled on me. He didnt even have a whole length on me. It wasnt that bad of a race, my Hemi sounded WAY better anyway. I'd like to see him pull 5,500 pounds and run like the Hemi will, hahaha.

 

I went online and found this performance test of a 8.1L 4x4. Scroll half way down the page (the 1st test of a Duramax, the 2nd is the 8.1) and you see it's 0-60 time is 9.0 seconds flat. If your Hemi cannot beat that - we are in a lot of trouble. Even with an exhaust and hypertech, he isn't going to shave much off that time

Well I was riding in the thing today, and it seemed fairly quick, but not much better, if at all, than the Hemi.

 

Don't get me wrong, I think the 8.1 is a bad *** motor, but not when put in a 6,000+ lb 3/4 ton truck lol.

 

Well maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't mind an 8.1 1500 RCSB 2WD 6-speed.
