Default muffler question

ok so ive had my truck almost a year now and have done some small mods nothing major just a lil intake some step bars and a hypertech programer but i really want the truck to sound a lil meaner, but im cheep and lazy so i dont want to buy a whole exhaust system does anyone know if there is a "performance muffler" that will bolt right up to where the stock one is now? id really rather not have to take it to a muffler shop beacuse of the whole being lazy an cheep thing. any suggestions comments would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know of too many mufflers that will bolt right up. The stock case is pretty long. The cheap thing I can understand, but to put it on in your driveway would be a real PITA. You have to cut it out, and then weld it on. I took mine to a muffler shop and the total for 1 40 Series Flowmaster installed was $140.00. I don't think that's too bad considering the muffler was included.

A muffler that bolts right up huh? Like someone said in so many words, taking off the stock muffler is HARD. I tried three times all on seprate occassions and with help. I used rust penetrant, lubricants, hammers, my legs and I was unable to take it off. I did replace my stock rusted exhaust clamps with stainless steel ones. A muffler shop, charged me $35 to install a flowmaster 60 series muffler on another car of mine. This included some piping, custom hangers and of course welding. In my opinion a good deal on a new flowmaster 40 series muffler (3" C/C) including installation (welding) would definitely be under $100. I believe you could find a flowmaster 40 series muffler for a price between $40-$60. I found one on ebay for $76, so try to find one for cheaper. You could always buy a used one.
