Default Fuel Tank

Stupid question...but what is the chance of my 2002 5.9L having a smaller gas tank than 26 Gal?
Thanks
Chuck

Not likely. It either came with the 26 or optional 34 gallon tank.

In 2002 there were only two fuel tanks for the RAM 1500, 26 gal and 35 gal. Since you did not specify I did.
The 35 gal was standard on long box.
The 26 gal was standard on short box.

Assuming you are not talking about the 2500/3500, in which case . . . Oh, and if you were talking about these vehicles, then you should have asked in the 2 Gen forum, since 2002 2500/3500 is based on 2nd Gen Dodge Ram.

34 gallon went in the 2500 Quad Cab Short Box
35 gallon went in everything else (2500/3500)

The 34 gallon tank is a $50 option on the 1500 QC.

In 2002 it wasn't.

It became a limited option in 2004 and later.

Didn't know that I guess you learn something new everyday.

Either way, with gas prices predicted to top $4 a gallon this summer, I couldn't afford to fill either one up.[:@]
