New Guy Here!!!
Hi All, My name is Tim and I am looking into getting a nice clean used 04-05 Hemi Ram. I come from owning 2 late model mustangs(please no bashing) but I was just wondering if anyone is having any major problems with the rams and if there are any major recalls with them. Also are there any good sites for aftermarket performance products?
Tim,
Welcome to DF. This is the place to come for getting ideas, checking out other peoples rides, asking questions and sharing knowledge. Lots of good people here.
The best thing to do is what you started doing, checking out the Ram section. If you can't find a specific answer to a question post there also. As for performance products you might check out the site sponsors/vendors. Many offer discounts to forum members. And be patient awaiting answers as many members like myself only get around here every couple of days. To many things to do at work and home.
Again, welcome and we are glad to have you aboard.

Welcome... I'm with ya T-man, will always own at leat one stang. I just rolled over 60,000 in 14 months(05 qc hemi 2wd). No major issues. I can't vouch for a used vehicle, but I bought this one new, and has treated me well. Good luck.
Tim,
No major problems with the newer Rams. There have been some areas of concern though, the main one being the LSD. There are C clips in the LSD that like to come off and tank the rear end. It isn't rare, but it isn't something to be afraid of. Just have the dealer, or you, take the rear cover off and inspect. It is easy to do since the manual calls for a fluid change at 15K mile intervals.
The newer 545-rfe tranny has all but eliminated the tranny problems that Dodge had in the 90's. There are no bands to adjust. Most people/quickie lubes never performed the band adjustment. This built up heat and eventually did the tranny in. Now it is automatically done, so no worries. Just flush the fluid and change the tranny filters every 30K miles.
The Hemi was new in 03. There have been relatively few problems with the engine. Mostly the "Hemi tick" and stalling problems. I've personally never had a problem. The stalling is mostly during low speed turning when the truck is idleing. The RPM's go down and the turning of the wheel puts that much more on the motor and it stalls. Fire right back up. I've noticed that the RPM's will go down to 500 when it is warm and the A/C is not on. When the A/C is on, the RPM's stay higher, say 625 or so.
I'd definitely buy a Ram again. I am very happy with my 04 Hemi QC.
