I have a 5.9 '03 ram quad cab and everytime I enter the automatic car wash, and the water is spraying up to wash the underbody on entry it dies out, with a rought ide, and will not start until the water stops spraying. After a few second of cranking it fires and fires and tries to run and dies out, after about 5 or six times it stays running but really doesn't completely clear up until I am a few miles down the road.

 

Any ideas anybody???

 

do you have a cold air intake? obviously the water that is being sprayed up to clean the underbody is getting in your intake and causing your engine to bog down and eventually die. not the best thing for your motor.

 

It is completely stock with 45000 miles on it.

 

the stock airbox has a small snorkel thing that comes out the bottom of the box and sticks into the fender well to get more air. the water is being shot into your intake and is bogging your engine down. i would suggest not getting the underbody of your car cleaned at a carwash and just do it yourself.

 

Just curious, but I thought they dropped the 5.9 in 02'? I know this has no relevance.

 

No, I believe 03 was the last year. I may stand corrected but I have the 5.9 in my 03.

 

thats wierd cause 02 was last for 5.9 gasser unless ur diesel i have no idea

 

nope 03 with 5.9 for sure, they dopped it that year though

 

Yes in 03 you could get 4.7, 5.7, and 5.9. At the end they were giving the 5.9 away, because nobody wanted it.
