Swapped mufflers, now getting a P0138 code?
I recently put a Flowmaster Super 40 on my 2002 5.9L 1500 Quad Cab, and about 3 days later the check engine light came on. I got the code and looked it up and it seems to be an o2 sensor problem. It seems awfully suspicious that an o2 sensor would go bad right after changing the exhaust, so I figured I'd check with you guys before I run out and pick up a new one. Anyone had a similar problem?
There is 72 000 miles on the truck. The exhaust was welded by me and there were no nicked or cut wires. I've recently check all the welds and they are perfect, no leaks what so ever.
A p0138 is O2 sensor 1/2 circuit high. this code will set over a faulty O2 sensor, a broken wire, or the connector being unplugged. Check and make sure it is plugged up and the new exhaust doesn't have the wire stretched tight.
Changing an o2 sensor at this point of the truck's life doesn't seem out of the ordinary, it was just the timing of it that made me suspicious. I'll double check to make sure the wire is okay, then replace the sensor. Thanks for the help guys.

wow,, i had the same problem with my 2004 ram, there was a howling noise coming from the rearend and when they pulled the rear diff cover they found the clutch retainer ring and some metal shavings, they ordered half the new parts, then when i picked it back up, the noise went from when i was accelerating to coasting and a rubbing noise when i would turn to the left. they verified and ordered the rest of the new parts and replaced everything else. the noise went back to when i was accelating. took it back they verified and kept the truck for another 2 weeks and then said there was nothing wrong with it, basically they couldnt figure it out and told me to take it to another dealership, when i bought it at BENDER in CLOVIS,,, i laughed at them and told them they were stupid and went and traded it in. i called DODGE directly and they were no help, so i will NEVER EVER OWN ANOTHER DODGE. i only had it for 18 months and i only had 24000 miles on it.
i had a 2004 dodge 1500 sport with the HEMi,,, the truck had alot of power,, to bad it was in the shop more than i was able to drive it. I live in Clovis NM and i purchased my RAM from BENDER!!! Boy was that a huge mistake. I had my tuck in the shop 17 times and i only owned the truck for 18 months
the only problem with the new mexico lemon law is it has to be in there 4 times for the same problem within the first year of owning the vehicle. the last 4 times it was in the shop was for the rear end. after they had the truck for 2 1/2 weeks, then 1 1/2 weeks, then another 2 weeks and couldnt correct the problem i couldnt deal with it anymore and traded it in. I had problems with the CRUISE CONTROL twice, once for brake switch the second fort he wiring harnes, WINDOW MOTOR, AIRCONDITIONER compressor went out, BAD FUEL INJECTOR, RATTLING NOISE IN THE DASH, ( 4 TIMES), FRONT END VIBRATION ( RACK AND PINION)< they had to replace the stereo TWICE,,, then they tried to tell me that i wouldnt play burned CD's, (REALLY) well the second one they put in worked just fine,,, also the FUEL GAUGE QUIT WORKING (bad sending unit) ,,and last but not least the rear end. DO NOT BUY DODGE, they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help me out!!!!!!! NEITHER DID the BENDER DEALERSHIP!!!
