Default Catalitic Converter

Hi everyone:

Anyone knows if removing the catalitic conv. on my 05 Hemi Qc. affects the engine and will I gain any more H.P., where I live there is no emission test required. (Just curious)

The cats made nowadays are pretty good and don't effect flow too bad. Leave it on because it helps with the backpressure. If you take it off you'll probably loose some low end torque.

You will also have to do something to Fake Out the PCM for emmissions too. o2 sensors before and after the converters

Not to mention that it is kinda illegal to run without cats on your truck.

As I said B4 I was just curious to know if I could gain a few more H.P. without the Cat. Conv. but I don't think its worth all the trouble.

I think it varies from state to state. For example, I think I remember some guy on here said that in Michigan there are no emission laws. Don't know if it's true, but it very well could be.

Please read this.

I just want everyone to realize that this is a federal thing, not a state thing. Federal laws supersedes any state law. Don't want my DF brothers in trouble with the Feds.

For the sake of curiosity, I'm sure you'd free up some HP, but not enough to A. matter that much and B. worry about Johnny Law (not that you'd worry that much)

I had no idea that it was federal. I don't plan on cuttin the cat, but a little extra knowledge is aways good to have.
