Default Ordered the cutouts!!!

I got -2- 3" cutouts from QTP online...i do not see how they could fit before the cats, so i was thinking right after...i wanted to know everyone's opinion...and for people who bought these cutouts about how much does it cost to get the installed at a local exhaust place? I did not get the electrics because i don't have enough $ for crap like that because gas is so high...i don't mind climbing under and making the adjustments myself...anyone know how much HP/TQ gain you get from these if any? thanks in advance!

Been looking at another post on a site asking pretty much the same stuff.
1) You need headers fitted if you want to put them before the cats.
2) About $30 for the welding on one cutout.
3) 12 rwhp before cats and 8 rwhp after, on a dyno. The sound is louder before the cats.

Hope this helps and as I say, info lifted from another web site not my experience.

Dont put them before the cats, you will throw engine codes like CRAZY! Somehow I doubt that u gain power, the cutouts dont make the engine work any less to power the car and it doesn free up any power. If anything, you lose torque because you lose back pressure. I would go electric because if u get pulled over due to them being too loud, you can close them and then the truck is street legal. I think that info above is incorrect.

what does everyone else think? on the QTP site it lists several vehicles from 13-30 hp gain...it has to make it gain something since the muffler is restrictive...it frees something up...and they are not illegal, so i dont think ill be getting pulled over for it...thanks

True that having them is not illegal, but if you open them up on a public road, you bypass the muffler, which is the same as not having one. And since you live in Texas, you are required by law to have a properly working exhaust system, which includes a muffler. That is why a truck can't pass inspection if it doesn't have a muffler or a cat installed. (excluding the grandfather clause)

I was also considering throwing a cutout under my truck. Let me know if it's worth the money and how you like it after you get it installed.

1) You can fit them before the cats if you get some 02 pigtails that lengthen the 02 connectors. No codes thrown.
2) Yes, go electric as you can instantly go back to a full working exhaust at the flick of a switch.
3) I was, as explained i my text, paraphrasing some guys who have done this mod and ran some numbers on a dyno.
I will post my own "buttometer" results when I get mine fitted.

Abarmby, I realize what you were stating and I was stating what I think. This was not a stab at you but the information present from the source you used. Just wanted to let you know that.

OK...if it is not "illegal" to have these cutouts then im fine...if i go to have it inspected i will have the cutouts capped off, so no problem there...and "JUST getting the electrics" is hard when you do not have that much $...my main questions when posting this thread was to see where people think i need to get them installed? how far from the muffler, do i need both cutouts or just 1, things like that...thanks

one should be fine, i've heard one and two cutouts. I liked one but two was way too loud. My ears hurt all the time when I was in that truck.
