4.7L Gears?
I dont know from personal experience but it seems that if your tire size is >29" then go with 4.56 gears, if the tire size is <29" go with 4.10 gears... wait for people with personal experience before you take what i told ya and run with it
Once i throw on some dub-duces (22" rims) on my truck, im gonna get me some 4.56 gears, heard nothing but good things from them... modes ive heard are: faster acceleration, better gas milage, and only increases RPMS 200-300. and have been quoted to be the "best single mode" done to their truck by several members... im ridin on stock 17's right now so in a few months, 22's and 4.56's are mine!
Hope that helped

Dont mean to cut in on your thread but its easier than starting a new and might help you as well. I have the stock 20's with the 275 55 20 tires. what gears does it come with on the 4.7 and what would would be better. prices too if you have them. also how hard would they be to change out myself. thanks
I have done lots of research on this subject. I had the stock 17's with the Michelin 245 75 17 The 3.55 sucked then. The I picked up a set of stock 20 s with 275 60 20 tires. The stock 17's are about 30 in. with the tires. The 20's are about 35in. with the tires. Now the 3.55 gears really suck. 4.10's are a happy medium. 4.56 are great on launches and around town. But on the highway after 70 mph , your Rpm's will be pretty high and your gas mileage will probably suck big time. It is not a job to attempt yourself unless you have etensive experience. There are a lot of required specialty tools to do the job. A good performance or 4x4 shop is highly recommended. You can expect to pay about $200 for a good set of gears $100 for master install kit and about $350 labor from a good shop. Add about $400 more if you have 4x4.

I have done a TON of research myself and I have personal experience with going from the 3.55 gears to the 4.56 gears. If your tire hight is 30" tall and you have the 545RFE then 4.56's will be the PERFECT gear for that combonation. And the 4.56's would be great for increased fuel economey from 0MPH - 70MPH. Even at 75MPH your fuel economey will be nearly the same as it was prior to the gear swap.
If you where going from a 3.55 gear to a 4.56 gear then you would gain 532 RPM @ 70MPH.
If you where going from a 3.92 gear to a 4.56 gear then you would gain 336RPM @ 70MPH.
Even the 500RPM gain will NOT hurt your fuel economey much at all if any because you effectively lower the load on the engine with the gears. the given load on the engine has a greater effect on fuel economey than RPMs alone. Meaning RPMs do NOT directly dictate fuel consumption.
City driving will be where you see the best gains IF you can keep your foot out of it. Your city driving is what will raise your overall fuel economey the most. So if you drive 80MPH on the highway and get 2MPG less then you did before, the city drving will get you 3-4MPG better and in the end avearge out your combined fuel economey to be 2-3MPG better than befor the gear. My point is, you will NOT regret the 4.56's as they offer better exceloration and when you really want it increased fuel economey.
I know for a fact that when I went from 3.55's to 4.56's I gained an easy 2-3MPG AVERAGE, After a 2000+ mile trip from Dallas to Daytona and back I had an average of 21MPG and 456 miles a tank. (I had 29.75" tall tires for that trip) I could have NEVER done this good with the 3.55's.
DONT FEAR THE GEAR!!
Also If your ANYWHERE close to the DFW area I have a gear guy who will do 2x4 trucks for 425.00 (parts labor out the door) and 4x4 trucks for 850.00 (parts labor out the door)...

You said you made the trip to daytona, well i actually live in daytona, i was wondering if you had anyone in this area that you reccomend for the install/purchase of the 4.56 gears for my 4.7. I have been reccomended to a place called Project 7 but a couple of people with suped up imports, but im not sure if there the best for trucks.
Let me know if you can, Thanks!
