Default Changing differential fluds

I'm assuming there are probably a few people that changed there own diff and t-case fluid on there rams, I'm just looking for some advice on whats best to use (I like royal purple), I hear in the tranny to only use the mopar stuff. does the diff cover use a gasket or a sealer (my jeep just used a rtv? sealer as the gasket) and is there anything/problems i might run into doing this myself. thanks in advance.

The 1500 models have synthetic from the factory (rear). LSD requires the friction modifier on 1500 models also. The covers are sealed with RTV.

I changed the fluid in both differentials on my '04 with Amsoil Severe Gear. Used RTV to seal the covers on. I also used Amsoil Universal ATF for the transmission. Just changed everything at 60k. The transmission was rather time consuming and fairly messy, but worth it. Also used Amsoil ATF in the transfer case. Transmission is running about 20 degrees cooler, and the transmission shifts so much smoother. DC says you "have to" use ATF+4, but so many have changed over to the Amsoil ATF with great results.

Take a look in the glove box, it will have the gear ratio and whether it is a LSD or not.

Amsoil Severe Gear 75-90 gear oil is recomended for the Limited Slip Differential. It already has the needed additive in it, per the Amsoil Tech guy I spoke with last week. I will be changing mine this weekend, along with the engine oil & filter.
