I have a 03 4x4 hemi quad cab. I was driving on the highway and the engine light came on and so did a lightning bolt symbol in the right corner. The codes it spit out are p2175 and p2106. Any help would be great. Thanks

I have no idea what these mean though. When was the last time you changed your air filter? How many miles on the motor? Last time maintenance performed like plugs and wires? Any other problems?

The lightning bolt is for the charging system, IIRC. Have any problems starting, charging, light dimming, etc?

No other problems. just cleaned the K&N about 2 weeks ago. The truck has 40,000 on it. Are these parts easy to fix or are they expensive. Thanks for the info

 

How much oil is on the K&N filter? I'm not quite sure what the codes mean or the part effected, but it seems possible that it could be related to the K&N filter and over oiling? I would see if the codes go away after a day or so, because it doesn't seem like a common problem or even from a definite source. Maybe a sensor or the TB? Definitely a weird code to throw.

ok so I took all my intake areas off ( not motor intake) and low & behold, a nice thick coating of oil or some sorta gummy funk that I usualy see in lawn mower carbs... I'm gonan do the thorough cleaning as posted in the link, just curious how well this put the code P2175 to rest?

 

wooooo hooooo 4 can's of brake cleaner later, a ruined tupperware container and this problem is fixed!! Lemme tell ya there was a lot of gunk in there & the TB, going on week 2 today and not a single blip of the codes mpg is back up to 18-20 finally, sure is nice now that it's almost 3 bills again... thanks for all the previousinput guys

 

The lightening bolt isn't charging system though it is the ETC Electronic Throttle Control.

 

strange but mine stopped the lightning bolt as well...

 

There is a bulletin for dodge rams early 03 for charging problems, a firmware reload can be done at your local dodge dealer.
