Default Want to go black...

I've got an '02 1500 with 20" bling bling stockers on it. I threw a set of 33" Toyo Open Country MT's on it hoping it would take some of that look away. Well to my disappointment it did nothing but tell me that my thought of going with black wheels is the way to go. I've started checking other trucks out and I can't say that I've seen 20" wheels in the black flavor. They've gotta make them right? But then, is it the right thing to do? Should I have not put the Toyo's on a 20" wheel and instead gone with a 17" wheel? Thanks for any tips or advice.

Many people like the 20" chrome wheels. Is it the "bling factor" that you don't like or the size of the rim. If anything, you can trade with someone on the board for 17" aluminum or 20" aluminum wheels. If you must have them black, I'm sure you can get a body shop to paint the chrome plastic covers black, but I don't know how durable it would be.

As a side note, Dodge has developed the "Nightrunner" series of trucks that have a "black chromed" 20" wheels.

You can always powder coat them, or take a look at the Rockstar wheels, they are a flat black finish, look awesome on our trucks, make them in many different sizes.

+1 with what he stated

I've seen black 22" and 24" wheels and the look sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Black wheels look great on certain colors, and I personally think they look the best on white/black vehicles. It would also help if you posted up a picture of your truck...

I like the way the American Racing Teflon wheels look, if you have a "offroad" look. My opinion on switching sizes is that if you go smaller than 20" then go to a 18". The problem I am having with my 17's is that all the tires I really like are 15", 16", 18", 20" and up from there. 17's seem to be limited.

The problem I have it they are the chrome five star type that are rounded Wheels like on that link. If they were flat and a different style I wouldn't mind as much...if there's someone that would want to trade I'd be game for that. I really like that black look that guys are starting to go with. I've never been into chrome and what not so I guess that might be the root issue here..

I have the same problem as motorhead. Most tires I like for my 4x4 don't come in the 17 inch. But I like my 17's. Don't want to go bigger.

I have the American Racing Victors coated in teflon in 17" with 35" BFG's. They match my grey hemi PERFECTLY and are beautiful, they're expensive, but well worth the money. Check them out.

Is their a way to put offroad tires on a 20" wheel? I got suddenly dissapointed with my factory 20's when I found out its not real chromed metal, but just dipped plastic...Plus I really wanna have the whole black look going on my truck. The truck itself is graphite metallic, and has window tint. So, im thinking a nice 20" black wheel with a chrome lip sitting on like 33" BF goodrich All terrains would look meann. But I can't seem to find a painted wheel I like, and idk if anybody makes an all terrain tire that will fit a 20" wheel.
