My new Truck!!
I just finished the deal on a new 2006 RAM 1500 SLT 4-Door SB, traded my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 4.0L on it because I needed a little more towing capacity, the 4.0 just wasn't cutting it, I only went for the 4.7L V8 in the RAM with the 3.55 gears which is said to be rated at 6500lbs the trailer is about 4500lbs, would have liked the HEMI but it was a lot more extra cost. I'm so happy with this truck the new 5-speed automatic tranny is so smooth, and it rides really nice, actaully it feels smoother then the Jeep. I got them to throw in the Class IV hitch also
It has the Mopar bed liner in it but later I'd like to get one of thoes nice spray in ones, Line-X or whatever. Also some side steps and fog lights, but that's the fun of a new vehicle, all the cool accessories you can add to it.
Going back tomorrow morning to get the hitch installed, the guy already had left and it was kind of late, I'm so excited to get the trailer hitched up and try it out, expesually with that Tow/Haul feature on the new 5-speed.

After rebates it was $19,990 (I love American car companies, try that with Toyota or Honda, no way)
The sticker on my Jeep was $30,550 I believe and it was a base Laredo with just the only option being 4x4 and convenience package, I feel like I got a lot more vehicle with this truck, the Jeep didn't even have a in dash CD player, the Jeep did have 4-wheel ABS though not just rear ABS like my RAM does, still good that the RAM came with 4-wheel discs and not nasty drums in the rear. I would have liked to have had a rear limited slip in the truck though, the Jeep had one cause of the axel it had, Chrysler seemed to have made a mistake and put the tow axel/gearing/LSD on the vehicle without the tow package option.
Dude, is that including your down payment? The only rebates is $4500. How did you hustle your sale price? Come on you gotta share this cause that is what I paid for my ST V6 back in July 2005. I know I am not the best buyer so you got to share what you did. I'll trade mine for that price. Where are you at?

It was Gossett Motors - Dodge Chrysler Jeep on Covington Pike in Memphis TN
The only thing I haggled with them is having them include the hitch and wire it all up at no extra cost. I'm not lying here I actually didn't think I was getting some mega good deal, well I kind of did but I just thought that was the way American car companies are these days, all about mega rebates and stuff to beat the foreign.
If you go to the Gossett website and the Dodge section and check inventory under RAM 1500 they have pages of RAM Quad Cab 1500's with a price ranging from 29,710 to 31,000 or so, thoes are the ones they are marking down to the high 19's I went to the dealer looking for a used V8 Jeep without 4x4 and when the guy said he had brand new RAMs for under 20k I thought no freakin way these things must be base base base not even carpet, and almost crapped myself when I saw it was a $30k truck to start with. NOt to mention with the V8, 5-speed auto AND the 17" aluminum wheels.
You have to love a good salesman.. I bought my truck used, it was 9mos. old, and had less than 30k on it. Sticker was 26,590 I got the truck out for 17,888.. Nearly 10k! But my salesman was a good friend of mine
Beautiful truck. I have the 4.7 as well with the new 5spd tranny. A big improvment is an exhaust system, really opens up the 4.7..

Congrats on your new truck. The 4.7L motor is a great motor and will accomplish any task that you can reaonably ask of it. Sounds like you got a great deal, too. Last but not least, [sm=welcomesign.gif] to DF
That IS a great deal. For that price you made the right decision engine-wise. Was it only the 4.7's that were marked down that much?
*General Question* I hear everyone saying that they got the 4.7 because the Hemi was "so much more" (I understand in the case of the OP it was probably about mark down price, and is the exception), but did DC mark UP the 5.7 for '06? In '05 it was less than $1000 difference for the engines, and when I bought my truck, with all options beign pretty much equal, there was still only about a $1000-$2000 window sticker differential. Not "so much more", IMHO, when you are already talking about a $30K + vehicle. Curious if DC raised the price of the Hemi option, or if local dealers are marking them up that much?
Again, that's a great deal on the truck, though.

You're right, the Hemi is an approx $1K option. But it is the other options that make the price go up. Many of the Hemi powered trucks also have the other add ons that make the price go up, so it seems that the trucks with the Hemi cost more. I know 2 members here have a RC w/ Hemi that might be considered "Stripped" by many, but they are out there and can be found.
This is not to discount the 4.7L. It is a great motor and has a lot going for it.
