Dang nice job man....I hear what your saying about the off the shelf stuff but those look awfull nice. If I had a set of those I'd have 'em sprayed w/Line-X or something similar but the powder coating looks sweet too! Terrific job !
The only time I would worry about slipping is when your wife is in heels. Those steps look amazing and are probably the only set around, very cool. I've been trying to find a set that match my needs but I can't find any. I think I'll try and make my own later in the year.
those are the best lookin step bars ive ever seen dude. nice job. i can weld and cut and grind like you said but i dont think im good enough to do something like that. ( mostly i make bbq pits and a few lowboy trailers) at first glance it looked like diamond plate instead of expanded metal i think if you had time you could make a couple sets of them (maybe even make some that extend past the cab to the bed a lil bit) and then strike up a deal witha local mom and pop body shopto sell em. if word of mouth got around then that shop would be the only place to get some and some nice looking shiny black step bars from another company costs between 300-400 from what ive seen.so you could buy the metal, make em, get em powdercoated, sell em to mom and pop shop for about 250-300 and they could turn around and sell for 300-350. my figuring on the prices is probably a lil off but you get the drift.
Man , you guys are cool!
I wasnt expecting such great responces.
Theres nothing like building something from scratch,
have it turn out nice, and have people compliment your project!
I will think about your suggestions with selling a few.
Figure out the cost vs. what someone would pay.
Thanks again fellas!
