Default Howling Brakes

I just performed a brake job on my 2003 Ram 1500. It has new pads and the rotors were turned. Now, when I apply the brakes I get an intermittent howling/squealing coming from the rear of the truck. Any ideas what this might be?

rear disk? did you apply a thin coat of the non squeek stuff to the spots that rub? (pads to caliper contact points)

No this was not done. The pads fit so tight we thought it was not necessary. I will remove the pads and add the lubricant to see if this fixes the noise. Thank you.

you should find wear marks where it was rubbing, i'd be supprised if there were none. it's the vibration there that causes the squeel

There were wear marks. We applied the lube between the pads and caliper. Let it set about 10 minutes before putting it all back together. The noise is still there. It took a few appies to the brake, but it rose it's ugly head again. Any other ideas?

Smear copper slip high temp grease over the entire back of the brake pads.
Also, where the pads sit on and locate into the bottom of the caliper, the square cutout on the bottom of the pad, grease around this area as well.
Most pads usually come complete with anti-squeel shims. They're a thin plate usually fitted to the back of the pad. Has yours got these?
Hope all this helps?
Al.

We did apply "grease" to the parts that move/slide. I purchased the wagner Thermo Quiet pads. They say they have the shim mounted on the pads for no squeal.
