Default new truck Dilemma

I’m in the market to purchase a new power wagon but I’m confused about different dealerships asking different prices. The price on the paper on the window tells me 53,000 CDN. And I go to the Canadian dodge website and its listed at 10,000 cheaper.

build one on line, than find a chrysler/dodge dealer that is willing to wiat 6 to 12 weeks for a factery order to built, Not all dealer's want you to do this because they mark up thier existing stock, even building one on line thier is a hell of a mark up, but you can cut to the chase a hell of a lot quicker because it's your truck your buying, not the dealers...

I Paid less than 35,000 cdn for a 2500 Ram reg cab SLT 4x4 6sp man and 5.7 with options, it is by no means a power wagon price wise, but I can live with it...optioned out retail was over 41,000...and I bought it april 1st...

ummmm....nope.

The dealer wants to sell existing inventory, because in order to be competitive he has very little markup....and the entire time the vehicle is sitting on ground interest charges are burning up that 'hell of a mark-up'.
If I had a power wagon on hand, that is the one I would be pushing to sell the hardest, but if you really wanted a different option (say, color) I would happily order you one. The price would not be any different, it would be better for me in fact. (quick turn around means fewer interest charges), but I am still stuck with the one on hand.

If it was me (and I can't legally sell to Canada, so don't think I am making a sales pitch here)
MSRP on an 06 Power Wagon, Auto, Cloth Seats and Zero Options is $42,765. USD
I would sell it to anybody for $36,935 (less any applicable rebates).
That would reflect a $300 mark-up. (I guess if you want to call that a 'Hell of a mark-up' that's your right)

Check at work and see if they have a buyer incentive program there. I work for a large pharmacuetical firm and D/M was one. That gave me 1% behind invoice, it knocked of about 10g's from the quoted price. All the dealerships know about it, but it has to be authorized by the company you work for.

in my situation their was not a dodge dealer in the land of the great white north who had a reg cab, long box truck in stock...and I wanted a 6sp a 2500 slt, no white truck, no cummons, no mega cab, no quad cab, ect...every thing I did not want in a truck all the dodge dealers had, optioned out to the max....what was in thier stock was out of my price range....and I did not find them at all willing to be resonable.....It took a great deal of effort to find a dealer willing to do a factery order and the truck was bought ( not paid for in full ) with the dealer knowing this truck is not going to be sitting arroound wating for a buyer.

Wow!!!
We love to do special orders...we keep very few vehicles on ground (one of each model, maybe) and do many many special orders.
If it's someone I don't know or from out of the area, I get $1,000 down and a signed buyers order.
If they don't have $1k to put down, we can still work around it.

And the 1% is called the preferred price. That is used for many applications - like the corp. affilliates, or friends and family.
It isn't a huge money saver...we usually end up saving the customer money by using other programs that are not compatible with the Friends Family Price (FFP)

For example...
2006 Quad Cab Big Horn SLT I have here.
MSRP $35,610
Dealer Invoice $31,951 (btw...invoice is not what the dealer actually pays in the end)
FFP Price is $31,631. If using this program I could actually retail it for $30,590. (I would make $320)
Then off of those prices you could take the $4,500 rebate (rebates vary by geographic location).
So if you were told you were saving $10k...that is 10K off of MSRP...not 10k less than what your neighbor paid.

If we use my standard pricing instead of the FFP we can take an additional 500 rebate (Farm Bureau - most of my customers are FB members - especially if we order a vehicle, they become a member while thier pickup is being built) and sell the vehicle for $30,390...cheaper without the FFP program.

Hopefully I didnt confuse everybody.
