Is there a difference between the 03,04,05 Hemi's
If you have the money, (from what ive heard NOT experience) if you want more power go with 206 cams and 4.56 gears, there is a nice difference between the 2...
and i agree that the VIN is one of the first things you should know about the car and it does show your inexperience about auto in general... but i bet 100% that at one time, houstonHemi didnt know where the VIN was too. I think this forum is to help people not cut them down, we were ALL at a point that we didnt know where it was and its just like making fun of a baby not being able to walk... he will eventually know and it will stay with him forever...anyway...about the location of the VIN... if you look at the very bottom right corner of the windshield FROM THE OUTSIDE you will see a string of letters and numbers about 10-15 characters long... that is your vin... the info that dodgedlr is looking for is the LAST 8 digits.
Hope that helps

Ya, I was going to make fun of you too, but schawks made me feel guilty about it.
On the drivers door, by the latch. You can only see it with the door open.
Or the windshield.
Or your registration.

Well,
I figured to push a few buttons with that thread but some of you people need to realize the difference getting ribbed and personal attacks. My point is, everyone in here should know the most basics of basics if you’re going to take the responsibility of owning a vehicle, much less one requiring the up-keep and maintenance intervals as that of a Dodge Ram.
schawks73, actually I knew where the VIN number was before I took delivery of my first RAM in 2004 as well as my current one. Perhaps being an aircraft technician since 1979 has contributed to this, nevertheless everyone should read their owners manual from front to back and become familar with the basics of whatever vehicle they own.
Half the questions in this forum wouldn’t be asked everyone took this simple and responsible action. Vin numbers, type of oil, maintenance intervals, warranty information, all this should be known by the perspective owner BEFORE TAKING DELIVERY.
Put it this way, if you don’t know this information and you plan on doing some “serious modsâ€, you’re setting yourself up for both failure and being taken advantage of.
No offense intended, just being blunt and to the point. Mechanics are a rough bunch and you gotta have thick skin. Shrug it off and move on….GEEEEZ

SOME '03s have a EGR...not sure what dictates what ones do or dont', but we ran into problems with that when ordering new heads when the valve springs failed.
PM me the last 8 of the VIN, I can tell you if the springs have been replaced. Or if you need to worry about it at all.
If you end up replacing them, you can just order the plain 'ol springs from your Dodge dealer...the weak ones are no longer made, and the number is superceded to the updated part. If you look at them there is a noticable difference.

This is surely a "later build", and has the updated springs.

awesome, thanks so much for the input. I have another question for you, based on my signature and pics in my album, what would you say I could sell my truck for. I'm wanting about 26,000, is that way out of the range. I realize I won't get what I put into it, but am I way out of the ballpark on this figure? I have 21k miles on it and its in PERFECT condition.
Well, I think you are going to very hard pressed to get $28k for a 3 (going on 4) year old pickup.
I just bought myself a 2006 Quad, fairly well loaded up for less than $27k. That was employee price, but I put lots of aftermarket stuff on too.
The lift may be worth some cash. The wheels and tires wont get much compared to what you paid for them, but still worth something.
You almost always have to give away a stereo system, your better off to keep it and put it in your new rig.
If you look around used car lots you will see many of them between 18-21k depending on mileage. And as nice as your pickup is, I don't think anyone would pay an extra 7k for it when they can do all that stuff themselves for less.
Don't mean to be cruel, just telling you what I have seen.
BTW, How do you like that speaker box under the rear seat?
Mine should be comming UPS tomorrow.
