Is there a difference between the 03,04,05 Hemi's
Just wondering is there a difference between the years. I own a 03 SLT Regular Cab Hemi. I was told by someone that the 03's were alittle bit faster then the 04-05's. But then I heard the 03's have the most problems. And what would it take for a 04 QC hemi to beat a 03 RC Hemi out of curosity?
For the most part they were the same until the MDS came along in '06.
However, the early build '03 Hemis had problems with valve springs breaking. We replaced several engines due to this and ripping up pistons and heads. That problem was found and fixed, but I worry about the '03s running down the highway that havent been fixed under warranty.

There are some diffs between the 03 and 04, the 04 and 05 are so similar the pcms are the same and wiring color codes are the same. Also, the 03 doesn't use EGR, the 04's and 05's do.
In the 03's you can cut a wire to knock out the tq control, you can't in the later years.
If those springs are weak and dc knows about it, they might even do it if it out of warranty.

SOME '03s have a EGR...not sure what dictates what ones do or dont', but we ran into problems with that when ordering new heads when the valve springs failed.
PM me the last 8 of the VIN, I can tell you if the springs have been replaced. Or if you need to worry about it at all.
If you end up replacing them, you can just order the plain 'ol springs from your Dodge dealer...the weak ones are no longer made, and the number is superceded to the updated part. If you look at them there is a noticable difference.
