I have an 03 1500 w/ 4.7. Recently began rpm surging and eventually stalls when stopped or coming to a stop, sometimes does it, sometimes don't , no check engine light..... Bad TPS ????

 

Check to see if its throwing and DTC's at the odometer, or get it scanned. If its a TPS, it will throw a code

 

My 03 4.7 did that pulling into my driveway (couple sharp turns at low speed followed by braking to a stop, usually resulted in a "lurch" and a stall or near stall.) Turned out there was a PCM flash fix for it... but noticed a MAJOR drop in fuel mileage afterward...

 

Maybe a good reason to look into a Superchip programmer

 

I'd try a good TB cleaning first.

 

Took it to the dealer and had the TB cleaning done and had it scanned, no codes and still surges and stalls.. any ideas

 

yea same thing here too it hasn't stalled in a long time but it just feels like it wants too. i got a 2002 with the 4.7 great engine, but i dont notice it as much once it has warmed up and done a couple of miles. but im going to try some sea foam this weekend and see if that helps and clean the tb, and maybe that will help i will let ya know once done and if any results

 

Ok, I have an 03 QC 1500. Does the same thing. Not to sound stupid, but, what is the TB?

 

its the throttle body, its sits on top of the intake manifold it allows air into the engine
