what do you guys think of this.....
the local truck shop offered the following
50 series hd muffler with a dual out the sides, or rear - $599.99 Plus $90.00 for installation
Everyone on these forums seems to be pro 40 series, whether super 40 or regular - but i dont see a lot of folks loving the 50 series - what do you guys think of the price and the 50 HD vs the 40?
TIA,
Boyd

My friend has the 50 Series on his '98 with the 5.9 and it does sound good, just quieter than the 40 series. I paid about $80 each from Advance Auto for 2 Super 40 mufflers and I paid $250 to have the entire system made up and even got 2 3 inch Silverline stainless tips that's about 12 inches long. If you want sound, I would definitely recommend the Super 40.

...I got a Flow 50 with dual side exits, chrome rolled tips...parts and labor came to $250.00...here is a pic of it and sound clip... you may want to try and independent muffler shop... they also custom fabbed a Y-pipe for $40.00...

HORRY SHEET!!!!!
Is that for dual mufflers? I got my 50 series (5.7L) with single in/dual out with chrome tips set at 45* angles out the back installed for less than $300. It was closer to $250, if I remember right. I love it. It's quieter, more "mellow" rumble, and not as obnoxious (IMHO) as the 40 series.

I am a night worker who lives in a subdivision,I come and go at odd hours,so to keep from waking the neighbors i went with the 50 series.Best move i ever made,it is relitivly quiet untill you stomp on it,then it roars, you get the best of both worlds. My friend has a quad with s-40's on it and it has such cab resonance that you cant talk or listen to the radio in the cab at modest levels. At 70mph the s-40 humms on his truck, mine doesnt, hes going to switch to a 50 or a borla to get away from the resonance.Just my opinion though,if you get the 50 and think its too quiet, remove the resonator and it will increase the volume some.hope this helps!

...yea, I have to agree, sometimes when I take others out in my truck (especially my mom)... I play with my throttl gingerly because it will get borderline loud...thank god my wife loves the sound...she says it oozes power...she always wants to take it to work so that she can kicka$$ on the freeway...I can only wonder how a 40 would sound...
