Default Wheel bearing's

Anyone had to change their wheel bearings on the front of your 2wd yet? This is the 3rd generation of Dodge I have owned and they have not fixed the issue with the front wheel bearings yet! I have over 96,000 miles on my truck (I drive 75 miles each way to work) and I noticed some oil residue on the inside of my front right fender well and down the right side of my truck. I think it is going to be the wheel bearing. If it is, I will go ahead and change both sides in the front to get it over with. All my other trucks had the same problem. 1984 1/2 ton, 1994 3/4 ton 4x4, 1997 1/2 ton, 2000 Dakota Sport, and now a 2003 1/2 ton QC HEMI - all had the bearings go out at 100,000 miles +/-. The problem Dodge has is all of them had bearing/hub assmeblies. This means you cannot change just a $20 bearing and be done with it. You have to fight, cuss, drink, get mad, strain, pull, and moan to get the enitre hubs off the front end. Then you have to go pay $350 each for new assemblies because you can't change out the @#$%$#% $20 bearing! You have to buy the whole unit. This is ridiculous. I am now looking at paying over $700 just to replace my front bearings. I have made this repair on all my trucks and have been just as mad every time!! When is Dodge going to fix this damn problem??!!

No matter what you drive, thats about the life of a wheel bearing.

I know that, but why can't they make them a two piece unit that you can buy for $20 instead of having to buy the whole hub for $350? Just another way for big business to reach further into our pockets! That's what I meant about fixing their problem - not the bearings themselves but the way they are packaged.

Ahhh capitalism my friend.......................how do you think the NASA shuttle crews feel, knowing that every little part, millions of them, were put out for tender to the lowest bidder................?
Quality MUST and does suffer.

WOW.................makes you think eh?
Oh and btw, I'm not anti-capitalist, just stating facts.
