Default RE: Chip vs intake

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with an 4.7 I purchased the Jet performance Chip stage 2 and they state you you should have free flow exhaust cold air intake T/B spacer and colder thermostat and use 91 octane. They do have a stage 1 which allows you to use 81 octane.

Here is what I did I went with the T/B spacer it did not change mpg then I went to a cold air intake with a K&N Air Filter which did help bring the mpg up to 1 to 2 mpg. Around town 13.8 and HWY if I keep it under 65 20 MPG I raced it at the drag strip 1/8 mile best time 11.5 there is a trick to driving with the stock trans or there seams to be anyway.

Then this year I installed a flowmaster 40 series muffler which really seamed to wake it up then I installed the stage 2 Jet Performance Chip a 180 thermostat and the time at the 1/8 mile was 11.2
I have not checked mpg at this time. Somthing else that hurts performance and mpg at least on mine is running a 20 inch wheel.
