AC prob
05 hemi standard cab..
A/C has a strange smell to it, especially when first turned on.
Smell is similar to mildew or stagnent water smell. It can really stink up the truck for about a good minute or two. Is it possible water is not draining properly?

My old 2001 dakota did the same stuff, When you use the AC turn in off a block of two to let all the moisture out of the duct system BEFORE you shut it off to just sit there, The dampness from the AC is what does that and not blowing it out, Only a dodge thing I quess, The Ram and the old Dakota did it
Hope that helps TRY IT OUT worked for me

Yes. The drain hole is located on the right side of the engine compartment just below the A/C lines that go through to the inside of the cab. I have had similar issues in the past with other vehicles. My daughter left the windows and sunroof open when it rained like 3 inches in one hour. The inside of the jeep was soaked. About 6 months later, the A/C had a mold smell when you first turned it on, then it went away after running the A/C for about 10 minutes.
I have no idea how a dealer would deal with this, but I took two foot rubber hose that was bigger than the drain nipple, and slid it over the end. I had the jeep running up a slight hill to help with the next part. Using a funnel, I poured in bleach. I then added water with my garden hose. I had the vehicle running, and I had the A/C running in recirc mode. I had the wife watching, and when it started blowing out mist, I shut off the water. I left it in there for about an hour, and the let it drain out. Solved my problem with the smell, the daughter is a different story.
