U-joints.....
you just should get it out of the way and replace them with re-greaseable ones the factory ones arn't that great i had mine replaced with ones that were re-greaseable so they should hopefully last alot longer, they gotta take out the drive shaft to change them so just get it done so you dont have to do it later again
The u-joints in the '03 and up pickups fail... a lot.
I mean, a lot.
Any time one is replaced under warranty we do both, reguardless how it looks or feels.
In fact, that is what we were instruced by a factory rep to do.
So, I would suggest it to a customer if it was a 'customer pay' repair.
Like ^^ said, the driveshaft is already down.

These two ^^^^^ are right on the money. Don't go with the dodge replacement. Get aftermarket joints with a grease fitting so that you can do regular maintenance on them at each oil change. They will last much much longer. When my first rear joint went the other followed within 5000 miles.

okay now only one easy was to say this but its a pain in the *** to me and time consuming but on my truck since its a long bed i have three u-joints if im correct on the short beds their only two. basically its just a matter of pulling out the drive shaft completely out of the truc is easiest get a nice big c-clamp and they have to be pressed out and pressed in, one important thing to remember to keep the two shaft matched, what i mean by this is take a marker you can see on the drive shaft and make a mark so when you put them back together these two marks need to line up or else your drive shaft will be out of balance and your truck will look like a mexican jumping bean going down the road (that would be funny to see tho) but other than that use some lock-tite on the rear of it diff where the bolts go back in just to make them stay(and they are a pain in the a$$ to remove they have lock-tite on them from the factory, well mine did it took forever to take the four bolts out) any other questions just let me know.. oh one thing remember to set the emergency brake and do it on level ground
thanks man. i went out and surveyed it, i have some seepage on the forward side of my rear diff. would that have anything to with my u joints. also today on the hwy on my way home i noticed a slight vibration. we all decided that they are ready to go. you guys agree?
well the vibrations could be them how many miles on the truck and where is the seepage on the front of the diff. i would have to say that that should have nothing to do with the u joint, depending on the miles its probably ready to do since the dodge ones really suck but yea just replace them
