Stupid question about headers -
ORIGINAL: boyd98
What are they and where do they go - I see some ppl upgrading this - didnt know if it was worth while, and something to look into?
Thx,
Boyd

Some people have problems blowing out their headers gaskets, if you do go with headers make sure you get a good set of gaskets and a quality set of headers as well.
I recently got a single in / dual out super 40 Flowmaster installed. I love the sound; but i didnt get the y-pipe replaced. Would you recommend getting the y-pipe replaced and with this set up is it possible to get headers - i guess im not familiar with it enough yet; is the type of headers you get dependant on the type of exhaust you have or vise versa?

You can get a aftermarket Y pipe or just have the local muffler shop fab you one, I would guess the stock Y pipe is restrictive. I will have to get under mine and take a look. That muffler would work great with headers. As long as you buy a quality set of headers, and use a good muffler you should be fine.
Where the headers connect to your exhaust "either welded or bolted" is called the collectors, after that it is all the same your Y pipe will be fine.
The headers should give you a good boost and a killer sound, if you buy cheap gaskets and headers you are looking for trouble. I would check with some of the Dodgeforum sponsors and see what they would recomend.
Good luck with your exhaust system.
