Default 2002 SLT - Stuck Wheels

New member here.

My wife has a 2002 Dodge RAM SLT with the V8 2WD she bought before we got married. I had to remove the front wheels late last summer, and literally had to beat them off with a hammer. I need to replace the rotors and I'm having the same problem. Those hubs are just too tight on the wheel. Am I missing something here, or am I going to have to spend and hour beating on them again? Thanks for the help!

yea i had the same thing when i did my rotors too, just dont beat the cr@p out of them, if your going to turn the ones on their, you may want to use some wd-40 to help a lil bit and hit the rotor from the back, hopefully this helps

It's not the rotors I'm having the problem with....yet...the wheels don't want to come off the hub.

sorry man try putting some wd-40 on them and kicking the tire on the top bottom and sides of the tire, did you loosen the lug nuts on the ground or did you take them off when the tire was in the air?

I had to loosen my lug nuts with the truck on the ground and rock the truck back and forth side to side by hand to get the wheels loose on mine when I rotated tires. Worked like a charm.

God, I've had such bad luck with lug nuts. Bought my little Dakota in January, and when I *tried* a tire rotation in May, had to (literally) have one of the lugs torched off. I had to argue with the stealership that sold me the truck to reimburse me for the work I had done on it, but they finally admitted fault (their service people tightined the lugs on too damn much.) Having to torch the lug off, I replaced the rim (they told me when they heat it that hot, the aluminum rim looses its strength). When they used their impact wrench to put those on, and when I went back later for some work at the shop that did my new rim, they had one hell of a time getting the lugs they tightened off (they had to replace three of the lugs). I just laughed, and requested that I tighten the lugs on after they did their work, so I know I can get 'em off.

Originally I removed the lugs with the truck in the air as I have an air compressor impact. Gave up last night, put it back together, and dropped her back on the ground. I just went home on my lunch break and pulled the lugs off while the truck is on the ground. I then sprayed a bunch of penetrating oil all over the hub. Hopefully it will losen it up a bit by the time I get home....Maybe I need a bigger hammer, lol.

How the heck would you ever change a flat on the side of the road. Someone at Chrysler wasn't thinking.

the tires are getting stuck because they runst onto the hub, get a hammer and beat the crap out of it from the inside of the tire, when you reinstall them, but son antisieze on the hub, it does it because of the heat build up.

The penetrating oil did the trick. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Actually its the brake dust getting hot and siezing the rim to the hub. Its a pain to remove the wheel. I had to sit and kick it off mine.
