Going from 3.92gears to 4.56gears
Will I really feel the difference between the 3.92's and the 4.56's? Is the difference in accleration that big as some are saying. Do you think a subtraction of 3tenths of a second in my 1/4mile time is possible, my best time is 15flat at 90mph.
Yes, u will tell the difference. Do u have the 20's. 3.92 is a good gear, but the 20s are so big the take some of the gear away. I dunno bout the 1/4, but u will accelerate faster but could run out of gear and top out quicker and have nothing left. But in the 1/8 u will be faster i know.
You will feel a big difference in acceleration. Don't know about 1/4m changes but I have the 20's and 4.56 and I'm only around 5100 or so in 3rd gear at the end of a 98mph 1/4m. So, that means you will not run out of gear.

I put my gears in before the turbo. I felt a major increase in seat of the pants acceleration with just my cai and exhaust at the time.
The turbo gets my speed up quicker and I still had plenty of gear to go, so they will be fine for a non turbo truck.

Not with stock 20's and LSD.

Let me clarify.
I put the gears in before the turbo and felt the big difference.
Then I put the turbo in and did 98mph in the 1/4 and still had plenty of gear.
So what I'm saying is that even with the turbo, there is still plenty of gear, without it you will have even more gear.
LOL!!, the stock 20s and lsd was for another thread, probably in another forum about smoking the tires, LOL!

I think the 4.56's are a tad tall up high. Something just doesn't match the engine tq output curve to the 1:1 ratio with that gear or something. Hard to explain.
It's a huge difference coming off the line and shooting through town. I've seen 3 before and after ET's posted on DTW and all were roughly .1 to .15 better in the 1/8 mile after the gears. However, all 3 showed the same 1/4 ET as with their previous gear sets. So city driving and 1/8 mile racing is much better. 1/4 mile racing is yet to be proven.
I say go for it. You won't be disappointed.
