Sweet!!!! - Exhaust MOD
Last night I saw a 03' Ram 1500 with probably the loudest and sweetest Exhaust MOD I think Ive ever seen!!! He had an electronic exhaust system. From the back and everwhere else I could tell he had the STOCK system and instead if going out and spending a few hundered to run a Cat-Back System he went and installed an electric baffel right after the headers and ran a 3" pipe off to the side of the baffel that was hidden under the side of the truck. So basically if he gets tired of the quiet stock system or if he wants to race it all he does is flip a switch inside the cab which switches the flow of the exhaust from the stock exhaust to straight headers. I dont really know how else to describe it, Ive only seen it on one other truck though, for those of you who watch Trucks! it was basically the same setup that they put on that project copperhead truck. But still when he flipped that switch it was like nothing Ive ever heard before and loud as hell!!!!!!! I dont know where he got it put on at but he claims that it was about $800 installed. This would be the perfect exhaust mod for those who prefer the quiet stock system and dont want the extremely loud exhaust sound all the time. I cant even imagine the gains he has to be getting from running the strait headers when he does!
Wow that seems pretty sweet. I dont like the quiet stock sound of my truck I mean its a V8 it needs to sound like it lol. is it duel exhaust? I am planning on making my own system with duel but I havent gotten the price of it figured yet.
electronic cut-outs are a good investment. The problems with them are that when you reveal an open hole that lets moisture into the exhaust system and it can rot it out (MAJOR RUST SPOT). You can't run them in the open position when its raining at all outside. They're worth it though, so if anyone gets them, be careful and have fun.
I dont see how it could let any more miosture in than what any other exhaust pipe would? He didnt just have a hole there ang from the look of it it completely cut off the pipe to the stock system and diverted the exhaust out the other side pipe for the straight headers.
in his case it would have a harder time getting water into it
but typically people with any type of cut out usually dont have pipes running off of it from what i've seen which allows moisture just to flow in
plus 800 dollars is pretty steep for just a cut out
all it is, is takin 1 foot or so out of your original piping and replacing it w/ the cut out
but i do agree they give off some sound

Well I do agree that 800+/- is a little steep but to have the option to just flip a switch and have the sound and power of running just the headers has its advantages too. Granite I really cant talk about the price considering I just put in $750 exhaust system in my 05' 1500, but still.....
