Default Gear ratio Hemi

I am thinking about buying a new Dodge ram 1500. Will someone post the 2006 gear ratios for the transmission on the 5 speed automatic? If you look at the options on the window sticker it says the "Big Horn" comes with a 3.92 rear end ratio. The the 5 speed transmission option says it has a 3.55 gear ratio. Which is it?

http://www.getahelmet.com/jeeps/tech/545rfe

This above website gives gear ratios for the 545RFE auto 5 speed in a jeep which should be the same as the one in the Ram.

1st 3.oo to 1
2nd 1.67 to 1
3rd 1.00 to 1
4th .75 to 1
5th .67 to 1

I hope this will help.

I am sorry didnt read the whole post. I have also been told the 3.55 is standard and the 3.92 is an option. If it is listed under the BIGHORN option then it should have the 3.92.

The 545RFE gear ratios are:
1st - 3.00:1
2nd - 1.67:1
2nd Prime - 1.50:1
3rd - 1.00:1
4th - 0.75:1
5th - 0.67:1
Reverse - 3.00:1
"The primary 2nd gear ratio fits between 1st and 3rd gears for normal through-gear accelerations. The alternate second gear ratio (2prime) allows smoother 4-2 kickdowns at high speeds to provide 2nd gear passing performance over a wider highway cruising range."
If you end up purchasing a Ram, visit this page, which provides a link to a site where you can get a service manual for the 2006 Ram (where the info above is taken out of).
The Big Horn comes with the 3.92 rear.

3.92 is available option on all 1500 Hemi's, depends on how you or the dealer orders it.

It might pay to do searches at this and other forums about the 9.25 differential and the problems that it has had - pinion bearing failures, nut backing off, seal failures, anti-spin clips breaking, rwal sensors dying.

For peace of mind and reliability,
getting a Dodge Ram with something other than the 9.25 should be given some hard thought.

Hank is correct on this one.. Our 9.25 rear ends have had more issues than I feel is acceptable. The Clutch pack retaing clips are one of the most common issues that DC refuses to address. I do plan to swap my stock Carrier with a Detroit true track... That will help remove MOST of the issues... Actualy I feel that the stock carrier is the main issue... so replacing it with an aftermarket carrier would be a wise investment.

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM
