Hey guys i have a 2004 4.7l v8 and was wondering is there any way that i can get rid of the govenor so far i can not find a chip for it to fart over nor any other kind of mods besides CAI and it really sucks. Can any of yall help me out with this?

I may get flamed for this but...

I was talking to my buddy, an owner of a 04 hemi. He was telling me that in some ways he wishes he had a 4.7, because more mods can be done to that engine. He told me that it is very possible to take a 4.7 and make it faster than a stock hemi. Any truth to this?

 

There was a point in time when there was more mods for the 4.7l than the 5.7L... but now it seems as though there are just as many mods for the 5.7L... As for being able to build a 4.7L that can out perform a 5.7L... YES that is very possible and easy to do with the right mods. It wasnt too long ago when I posted my 4.7L QC beat a 5.7L QC and all hell broke out and I was Flamed up and down because the HEMI guys just did not beleive it was possible... thats untill several of them met me at the track and then it became reality as I beat them by nearly .4 in the 1/8 mile.... And if you have ever been to the track... a distance of .4 on the big end is 3-4 truck lengths...

BUT If I where to purchase a RAM today it would be the 5.7L... there are just as many mods available for it and mod for mod the 5.7L will out perform the 4.7L... that has never been a question. The ONLY thing that sucks about ALL the Dodge rams is the **** PCM... If Dodge doesnt loosen up the grip on them I may end up going to a 6.0 chevy... yes they are UGLY... but mod for mod they will lay the smack down on the Dodge only because you can hook up the lap top and re-program the PCM.

it seems theres more things out for the 04 and under model 4.7 than the 05. i have an 05 and have found somethings but nothing impressive. im not finding enough or is my findings true ? im just looking for a little more horsepower and torque i know its not a 5.7 and if i wanted speed i know i should have went with that, its like i said i just want a little more hp/torque. thanks in advanced guys

 

The only thing you guys dont have yet is a programer... but other than that ALL the mods are the same. I do agree that a programer is a great mod... you can start on this list, and when the programer does come out... MAN you will have one hell of 4.7L...
All you need to take a stock 5.7L is:

1) 4.56 gears
2) 206 cams
3) True Cold Air Induction system (I feel the =AIR=RAM=> Is best)
4) Electric fan
5) Replace your stock "Y" Pipe with a high flow "Y" and go True 3"ID Single exhaust all the way back through a Highflow CAT and a High Flow SI SO High Flow Muffler and dump it where you like... I like it to extend it all the way out and exit at the rear of the bed.
6) Fast Man 70MM throttle body
7) ASP underdrive pulley
8) a POWER WIRE for 3-4 degrees of timing advance... 8-10 HP alone...

All these mods together will have you running with the mildly built HEMIs and eating the lunch of the un suspecting stock HEMI's...

It took me nearly 4 years to get all the mods on that list... trust me after you tell them you whooped them with a 4.7L the look on their face is priceless.

air ram where did you find the electric fan for the 4.7 ? ive found some but i cant find one for a dodge. air ram if you wouldn't mind helping me out it would be appreciated, thanks.

 

I purchased my MARK VIII fan off e-bay for just under 100.00 total shipped to my door... I think the auction ended at 79.00 for the fan...






Just go on e-bay and look up "MARK VIII electric fan" ... remember there are several different fans... the one I have is over 18" and will flow over 4,000CFMs... Its a beast!
