just to give you a heads up husky, I tried standard CDR's in mine and they dont play at all, however I have a few 'Music' CDR's from maxtor (I think) and I can burn those all day long and they play every time.

You copy CD's!!!!
People can do that now!!!!!

I pull from Limewire and have a recording studio and have never had a problem getting .wav or MP3 files to play in my stock CD player. Either you are burning in a different format or it is your head deck. As far as what they told you, no idea.....

Do you have that problem with store bought cd's? Maybe you're burning software is not bypassing the encryption software built into the factory CD.

Burned CDs are hit and miss. Some will play, some won't.
But there is actually a TSB about this, I will try to post it.

But no, they are not giving you the run around.

SUBJECT: Recordable Compact Discs Used in Automotive CD players
DATE: March 24, 2000
DISCUSSION:
Some recordable compact disc media, such as CD-R and CD-RW, may not comply with the standard CD format used in automotive CD players. When these CD's are used, customers may encounter error messages, skipping, or delaminating of the labels, which can cause an eject failure. It is important to question whether these kinds of CD media are being used. When customers encounter these symptoms, check the system with a known playable CD. Explain that the media may not be compatible with some automotive CD players. Replacing or exchanging the CD player will not address these issues.

Thanks for the reply. Store bought work just fine, but I like to use only copied versions so if they are ever stolen, who cares. I can get it to work if I put it in and wait to see, then eject, put it in and eventually it will work after several times. Hey Drew, what software are you using to burn the disc? adn what format. I only have the basic radio. The book says it won't play mp3. I'm just using a basic audio format. I have the same problem with CD's that I make with song I downloaded.

I use Limewire also and I use either Windows Media or Nero to burn my cd's. I burn both 80 minute cd's and MP3's (which I love). The only time it won't work is if the files are corrupt or if the cd format isn't correct. Not to sound dumb but make sure you're not trying to make an MP3 cd if your unit doesn't play them.

NERO rules all[sm=icon_rock.gif]

BTW, cd's read a *.cda format, this is so close they can also be read as *.wav's

if you burn straight *.wav's it may or may not work, getting that *.cda format that windows media player or nero will generaly work every time.

but I do have an issue when playing burned CD's on generic CDR's no matter what program is used

I burn CDs with Itunes and never have any problem with them.
