Default GPS Advice??

I'm considering getting a GPS system that I can carry in my pickup or on my ATV when I'm offroad. Does anyone have any suggestions? Don't want to spend an arm and a leg but want something that will work and is reliable. It doesn't need to speak to me.

I use the "Magellan Meridian Gold" I have it mounted in my truck and can pop it out when I go hunting or ATV'ing I really like it. It has downloadable maps and can give you directions to anywhere you want to go. I actually use it at work too when I need to find some obscure road that I haven't been on in a while. There is a database that lets you search for certain places. I bought the whole thing with the maps and car / computer mounting cords on E-bay a couple years ago for about 350.00, I'm sure theyre cheaper now.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 350 and couldn't be happier with it. All maps are preloaded and it comes with dash and windshield mounts. You can also purchase a mount for bikes, motocycles, etc. on Ebay. It's a little pricey though. I paid $590.00 for it.

I second the "Magellan Meridian Gold". I love mine. I use it for bow/rifle hunting season as well as my vehicals. I use the TOPO software. It is great!!! You can even make your own maps.

I am a fan of Magellan also! Had problems mine once and the customer support was very helpful. I would recommend finding one that has the options and accessories you want or need and then go from there. For example, I wanted one to figure square footage or acres so I bought that one. It didn't have the electronic compass, but the area calculation option was more important to me. Magellan also has the software and accesorries that made it easy for me to transfer it from my atv, to my pickup, to my backpack. Anyway, GPS units are something I could go on and on about but think about what you will be using it for and shop around. Good Luck!

The TomTom ONE just came out just came out in the US market and it is really worth having. Its not an expensive model but still has the high end features, plus its extremely easy to take anywhere so its no prob bringing it on your ATV.

The megellan's are good products. It also seems that the garmin E-trex models are always on sale. What do you plan on doing with it?

yep Magellan is the best to go with, use mine for quading, hunting in summer and sledding in the winter, and use it for farming purposes as well. Never used anything better

Yup, got the Meridian Gold on E-bay, brand new for $175. Haven't had much of a chance to use it yet.
