My new tires -- BFG All-Terrain T/A KO
Yeah, I have seen a guy with 315's on his stock 17's, but he said it rubbed ever so often, that's why I think I will go with 305's, or perhaps 285's It depends on how it looks.
I just put LT275/70/17 G-Y Wrangler silent armor tires on my truck and also love the more aggressive look. I have lost about 1mpg on the highway though. Glad you found some tires that you really like. They look great
quote:
"interesting thing is my truck had 245's on it when i bought it .... was it SUPPOSED to have the 265's?"
tire choices available stock were the 265/70-17 and the 245 (i'm guessing 245/75-17)
keep in mind that it's wise to compensate the sidewall ht to maintain closely the same diameter, and thus same speedo readings and effective gear ratio, such as a 265/70-17 and a 285/65-17 - these two sizes essentially are the same diameter though the tread is obviously wider by 20mm, and the diameter is preserved by the 65 vs the 70 sidewall (65% of 285mm vs 70% of 265mm) oh yeah, if you check tire availability, you'll of course notice that many "ideal" sizes aren't available, then it's a judgement call as to how much discrepancy you want to accept in diameter difference. - dan
