Yes it does, but it is powdercoated to what ever color you want, not the usual black and it is steel, not plastic - which costs them about $20 to make. Priced steel lately? Let me break it down for you - 1 Steel 3 1/2" pipe that is 1/8" thick costs $100, since it has to be custom MANDREL bent. Getting the hole cut in it and the bracket welded on $15. 1 K&N filter costs $50. Powdercoating the tube cost $50. So that brings the total to $215, and that is not including the rubber grommet, the throttle body connector and three large hose clamps. Still think it just a pipe and a filter?? Now I know a lot of you guys want to go the cheaper route with the Chrome Intake deal listed, but in actual reality, it is a 2 or 3 3" aluminum pipe pieces that they get made dirt cheap. I tried one of those and was not happy with it at all.

For me, the bottom line is...what is going to get me the most bang for the buck? I'd much rather spend $50 for something that will get me 95% of the performance of something costing $300. I would even hazard a guess that the extra 1/2" could possible have a detrimental effect on performance if you don't have a larger exhaust and haven't upgraded to a computer package that would have you using 93 octane with advanced timing settings. You want to have a certain amount of air velocity on your intake air and if you haven't set the rest of the vehicle up for it, you could be harming performance much in the same way that an exhaust that is too large can hurt the low end torque.

Now I'm not saying that I know the larger intake to be detrimental, just that I don't see the justification for the extra $250 for something that looks only marginally more attractive. Plus, the cheap version is aluminum which will cool down faster when you get moving and the outside air starts rushing in.

Don't get me wrong...you have a nice looking product, but it's not worth it to me and a lot of others who are more interested in practicality and price.

Ahhhh, now I know why you got so pi$$y. Didn't put two and two together.

I'm sure you make/have a fine product but the fact is it's still a steel pipe laying against a hot engine soaking up the heat. Now granted, almost all the mislabeled CAI's do this but it's still a steel pipe that will absorb and hold lot of heat. I'm sure it's much better quality than the cheapo made-in-china crap off of ebay but, the made-in-china crap it's thin walled aluminum and will not hold heat like the steel. Plain and simple, I'm not spending $265 on an intake unless it is a true COLD air intake. Now if you were to insulate it somehow, then I would be more impressed. This is why (eventually) I will try the Air Ram product.
The powder coating is nice though. That's a change.

I won't buy K&N again either so don't feel bad - well not until they come down to $65 anyway

Fortunately there are quite a few out there that do not feel the way I do which is what keeps our economy going. Frankly, speaking as a consumer, I don't care what it costs you, I care what it costs me

I just posted this on another Ebay related thread. Just did this work last week and got some pics. Check this out guys... if you're at all interested in these Chrome Intake Systems.

And by the way, semo03hemiram, if you're willing to PAY that for a 3.5 foot chunk of steel (that I'm sure doesn't REALLY cost that much) then you're an idiot with too damn much money... just my opinion.

I have the receipt to show what I pay for it. I don't understand something. People pay $250-300 all the time for AFE, K&N, Fram, Air Raid and other brands of intake systems, that they have a whole $50-75 invested in, yet you trash me for asking less for something I have more invested in? Ok, well you just stay with your $60 intake system, and enjoy the extra heat from the thin wall aluminum. And I hope you are happy supporting the Chineses, because that is where that system comes from. Just thought I would let you know that. Oh, and I am not an idiot with too damn much money. I spent a lot of time developing the intake system, and I am very proud of what I made. If I could get the price down on it, I would. But right now I am barely making a profit.

Just curious here - did you dyno it with different brand intake systems?? See, if I was an idiot with too much money like I was called, which I don't think I deserved, I would purchase one of every intake system I could find and dyno them in a warehouse with controlled temperatures, and find out exactly what each one did.

I didn't post on here to be verbally assaulted. I was just offering an option to the members on here. My system was designed to be nice looking and perform. Not do just one or the other.

Oh, and thanks stump_breaker. I appreciate the fact that you can see what I have invested in the intake system. By the way, I do have one that is a little cheaper for sale for a 4.7L, but I will probably be ragged on about it "just being a J Pipe". When that is all the ebay system is. A couple of SMALLER J pipes.

I work for a HUGE steel shelving manufacturer and we have two ( about to be three ) powder coating lines and one liquid line and shoot thousands of parts everyday. I get personal stuff powdercoated all the time so I understand that side a little and the cost involved in it. Fortunately it does not cost me directly but thats the perk of being a manager with the company.
