Engine compartment cleaning
Hey all been a while since my last post.
Anyone have any good suggestions on how to clean the enging and all under the hood?? I've gone through about 3 cans of engine bright and the other foam style cleaner NO luck. I heard that you can use Simple green, but haven't tried it yet,has anyone else used it to clean their engine? I also heard you can pretty much spray the whole compartment down after you get it clean with Armor All. I know that it's good for all the rubber in there but any problems on any other parts?
Thanks H-

In the detail shop at the dealership I work at, they always use a light/medium-duty degreaser (red thunder/red hot/red devil...all the same) on all the engine parts. They then spray it down with the powerwasher. As it is drying the cover everything with an interior dressing (armor all). The only problems I can think of is to make sure you plug the snorkel on the airbox on engines that have one and in rare occasions a belt squeaks for a while due to overcoverage from the dressing.
If you're talking about the simple green all-purpose cleaner or automotive cleaner, then yes. From their website, "Simple Green®’s concentrated formula can be used on any washable, indoor, outdoor and automotive surface." Just check their website and you should be able to find the right simple green for the job.
Be careful I used simple green once befor and it made the rubber stuff look like old chocolate
