I use Lucas products. Anything above 89 octane is a waste of money IMO.
Well if you had a SRT-10 Ram would you put just 89octane in it or would you put the best gas 93 octane or higher in a viper engine truck?
Your logic is flawed and has likley cost you alot of money. Higher octane doesn't make it better. If you vehicle doesn't require high octane fuel (hemi rams don't), you will receive no benefit from running it. Your wallet will just empty faster.
Running 89octane only costs about $2-4 more to fill up its not really a big walet problem. And the manuel says 89 is recomended so I stick with 89 but when I get a superchip I'm running half tank 89 half 93 since I can't get just 91octane.

I was referring to misconception that running higher octane than recommended is "better". In both of your examples you are running what is required or recommended. If you were running 93 now, though maybe not a big wallet problem, it would be the same as putting dollar bills through the shredder. You would see no benefit.

I think I will try the Lucas product and see what it does.

I've used the Lucas in the past with good results. Maybe just my imagination, but it seemed to smooth out the engine. I tend to add a treatment every time I change the oil.

Can't really offer any advice on octane - but on my trips from Orange County back home to Spokane I normally run the recommneded 87 in my '01 2500 QC LB 5.9 4.11diff and I've towed cars both ways with no probs.

Where are you headed for? I've run home up the 101, I-5, 97 & and 395 so curious where to and which route as I see you are just east of me in MoVal. Some routes are tougher than others when towing.
