RE: Question for ANYONE who works at a dealership/goes to a dealership for maintenance
I'm glad they reimbursed you for the loss of the "personal items". I doubt that what they did with your truck is part of their usual way of doing business, and it was probably done by accident for whatever reason, but it is still their negligence.

It is also good to see that they took responsibility of this too.

In the future, I doubt that it would happen again. In fact, I would recommend you continue using them in the future, if you are satified with their work, as they will most likely treat you and your vehicle like gold, because of what happened.

Just make sure you remind them to park in plain site and lock it up when you hand them your keys-----they will have the message loud and clear.

I had something similar happen to me,although nothing was stolen.

I went to buy my daughter a new Caliber, her 2004 Intrepid was destroyed when a man ran a red light.I had cleaned, washed, and waxed my truck that morning. As i sat talking to the salesman,I looked out the window and saw 2 people sitting in my truck and another standing beside it.I stood up and said what the hell are those people doing sitting in my truck? The salesman looked out and told me that the guy standing beside my truck was a salesman! These people were trying to sell my truck!
I got a kick out of this so I let it go on for a bit,the folks really looked over my truck, popping the hood and all!I let this go on untill the salesman came in looking for the keys to the "Blue truck with the HEMI in it"I got tickeled and told him they were in my pocket where they were going to stay! This guy turned three different shades of red in about 3 seconds!
The potential customers turned out to be a father and son looking for a car for the son. After seeing the stereo and mods done to the truck the poor kid was in love.I felt sorry for him.To their credit though they were full of complements on my truck even trying to buy it from me right there on the dealers lot! That sure had the salesmans hackels up!

from then on,I lock my doors!

Good luck on getting the dealer to compensate you for your loss,I hope they do right by you!
Oh man.....that's a classic. I really LOL at that.
I've just finished a crappy night shift here in the UK and you put a smile right back on my face.

Im still gonna go to them for work in the future mainly cause they're so close and now I know they wont screw me over on this sort of thing again. And I will be asking them to make sure everything is locked up tight and parked in a locked/secure area.
