Do you run? The manuel says the cheap stuff is fine for a Hemi. Is that true?

I run 89. Manual says it prevents pinging. I don't know if thats true, but I also wouldn't want to test it.

Its worth it running 87 when 89 is only going to cost you what an extra $2-3 to fill up. One guy encountered a serious problem running 87. What I do is I'll fill half the tank with 89 then the other half with 93 so I'm basically running 91octane.

Higher octane fuel is designed for higher compression engines, the 5.7 is not considered high compression. Generally high performance sport engines (motorcycles, atv's etc.) require high octane because of the compression ratio. I'd suggest the brand of gas you use is more important then the octane.

It says in the manuel to use atleast 89 octane gas. So I would not go against the manuel. And if you use a superchip you need to run higher octane to get the most performance.

I use 93 before I do my engine mods, I wouldn't put anything less in it. Using better gas is worse? lol who gave you that idea, thats like telling you to stop drinking purified water b/c it has less polutiants in it, and go back to sink water.

Read your manuals people! The manual does not say to run AT LEAST 89 octane. The manual recommends burning 89 octane but will run on 87 as well. 93 octain is not recommended and in fact, may make the engine run worse.

That's where we got that idea. Imagine that, actually reading the manual.... Just goes to show who hasn't..LOL

I think he was talking about me. I ran 87 through it and clogged my fuel rail and injectors. I think though, that it was the previous owner who had also run 87 through it and f*cked it up. It cost me over 300 for the fuel rail flush and tune up, i wasnt happy.
