what octane?
Its worth it running 87 when 89 is only going to cost you what an extra $2-3 to fill up. One guy encountered a serious problem running 87. What I do is I'll fill half the tank with 89 then the other half with 93 so I'm basically running 91octane.
Higher octane fuel is designed for higher compression engines, the 5.7 is not considered high compression. Generally high performance sport engines (motorcycles, atv's etc.) require high octane because of the compression ratio. I'd suggest the brand of gas you use is more important then the octane.

I use 93 before I do my engine mods, I wouldn't put anything less in it. Using better gas is worse? lol who gave you that idea, thats like telling you to stop drinking purified water b/c it has less polutiants in it, and go back to sink water.

It says in the manuel to use atleast 89 octane gas. So I would not go against the manuel. And if you use a superchip you need to run higher octane to get the most performance.
