Default ticking in the motor/under the chassis

after installing cai and platinum plugs at 34000 miles i starting hearing a ticking underneath my chassis. when accelerating at low speed it sounds like donut gasket leaking but if i accelerate hard the ticking goes away. has anybody ever heard of anything like this? please reply.

Tell us what engine you have. Could this be the famous "Hemi Tick", if so, many people have it and it's apparently normal.

I have a similar sound under my '03 4.7 QC but only at start up. After a few minutes/when I drive away, it seems to go away. I bought the truck with just over 27k miles and have put around 1700 miles on it so far. Oil level is fine.

i just posted this same question about the "ticking" with a cai exactly the same thing "at low speed" & "goes away at acceleration." i guess it is pretty normal then if there are others complaining of the EXACT same thing. Good news or bad, i dont know. =)

Well i have an 04 QC with a 4.7 and a 5speed manual. i noticed this tick after about putting 1000 miles on the truck and that was at about 30000 total on the truck.... my first guess was that it was the exhaust manifold had a crack or a leak. after dumping seafoam through the brake booster line "a significant amount" i noticed a liquid mist in the engine bay... which is caused by there is so much excess seafoam the engine cant burn it. well it was coming out of the area between the block and the manifolds "aka the gaskets were crap" i went to local auto parts store bought some performance type make a gasket stuff where its kinda like cardboard and u cut out what u need well i cut the gaskets out cut the exhaust holes out replaced the manifold with the new gasket and i have yet to here that tick again...so in my case that solved my problem...and maybe if u look into it it will solve your problem

i have the hemi. i would like to know what the famous "hemi tick" is. is it internal? is it the throttle body butterfly vibrating at certain speeds? somebody told me that was what was wrong. this friend said that there was a fix for it. who knows.

I had the same noise in my 2004 4.7 , took it the dealer and they said two bolts were sheard in the exhaust manifold, drilled out the bolts, replaced them and clicking noise was gone. I asked him how this could of happend and he said there have been quite a few people in for the same thing.
