OK new to the site but big MOPAR guy. (70 challenger RT convt & 3rd ram) Just bought 2006 mega Cab.

(EP is real !!! $9,000 below MSRP)

I feel like the 265/70/17 tire and rim package look tiny on the truck. Also I do a fair amount of driving on the beach ..so I started to look to upgrade rims & tires. I found a helpful site in figuring out tire size (rims-n-tires.com.) I have always been a huge fan of BF all terains. It looks like the biggest BF I can get (without adding a lift which I definately do not want to do) is 285/70/17. It seems I could go to 295/75R BFs if I went to a 16" rim. (My other option to max out tire wheel height seems to be Nitto Terra Graps on 295/70/17)

I was prepared to go down to the 16" rim to stay with BFs and add height ...but have been told it might create a brake clearance problem. So now I am betweeen smaller (BFs 285/17) & Nittos (295/17)

Does anyone have any experience with this max wheel/tire question. I think the mega cab set up is the same as a standard 2500

Also are there any recommendations of the best nerf bar/step for a mega cab. So far it seems that the best I have found are Back Country in Stainless.

 

for a step bar I would recommend the Luverne Megastep. I have them on my truck and love them. Wide step area, yet they look like nerf bars from the side.

finally....they're pretty dirty in these pics, not scratched...made of stainless steel, and the stainless finish is warranted for life i believe. I have a QC, but I've seen them on a few MegaCabs, and they look great on them too. As a side note, you can make them stick out farther then your doors, protecting from door dings from cars.

You must get 17" wheels or bigger ONLY, 16's will not work.
